A campaign between Eight Ounce Coffee and Lumi News Malaysia
From 21 July 2025 to 21 September 2025
1.0 Introduction
‘News & Brews’ Campaign (“Campaign”) is a joint partnership campaign organised by Lumi Global Sdn Bhd [202101007276 (1407575-K)] in collaboration with Eight Ounce Coffee Sdn. Bhd. [201301026126 (1055956-V)] from 21 July (12:00AM GMT +8) to 21 September 2025 (11:59PM GMT +8), or until 2,000 cups have been redeemed, whichever comes first..
Lumi News is a free mobile news app (https://luminews.my) that aggregates news from over 80+ news sources. Lumi News is incorporated in Malaysia, and headquartered at SO 7-01, Menara 1, Strata Office, 3, Jalan Bangsar, KL Eco City, 59200, Kuala Lumpur, and their contact email address is [email protected].

For the purpose of these Terms and Conditions
“Participant” refers to individuals meeting the eligibility criteria under Clause 2.0.
“Voucher Code” refers to the generic campaign code NEWSNBREWS that must be entered by eligible Participant(s) in the Lumi News app to unlock a unique Voucher.
“Voucher” refers to a single-use digital voucher redeemable for one beverage at participating Eight Ounce Coffee outlets.
“QR Path” refers to Participant(s) who access Lumi News via QR codes at participating outlets.
“Non-QR Path” refers to Participant(s) who access Lumi News via other channels.
2.0 Eligibility
This campaign is only open to new Lumi News users residing in Malaysia (“Participant(s)”), who have registered a Lumi account during the Campaign Period.
2.1 Lumi News is available for download on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Huawei App Gallery.
2.2 Throughout the Campaign Period, each eligible Participant (1 user ID) is able to redeem one voucher for use at any Eight Ounce Coffee outlet, namely:
Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur
The Exchange TRX, Kuala Lumpur
The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur
2.3 Existing Lumi News users (users who have installed the app or created an account before 21 July 2025 are not eligible to participate in this Campaign.
2.4 To qualify, Participant(s) must:
Be a new Lumi News user who downloads or registers a Lumi News account during the Campaign Period (21 July – 21 September 2025, or until 2,000 cups have been redeemed, whichever comes first).
Apply the campaign voucher code in the app to redeem the voucher; and
Follow @eightouncecoffeeco on Instagram.
New Lumi News user refers to a device that has not previously installed nor accessed the Lumi News app before 21 July 2025. This includes both registered users and guest users who accessed the app without signing up. Lumi News reserves the right to disqualify redownloads, reinstallations, or other forms of repeated app activity originating from the same device.
3.0 Campaign Mechanics
3.1 To participate in this Campaign, Participant(s) are required to sign up for a Lumi News account and complete the registration process during the Campaign Period.
3.2 Completion of registration process is defined by creating an account on the Lumi News platform via the following available methods:
Google Sign-in
Apple Sign-in
Facebook Sign-in
3.3 Participant(s) must apply a voucher code in the Rewards page during the Campaign Period in order to receive a unique voucher code. To unlock the voucher code, the Participant(s) must enter the generic code in the Lumi News app’s Rewards page and select the voucher to reveal the View voucher code button. This reveals the unique voucher code assigned to every unique new user.
3.4 Only ONE (1) voucher will be given to each eligible Participant(s) upon applying the voucher code in the Rewards page. An error message will be displayed if deemed ineligible during application of voucher code.
3.5 Participant(s) must follow Eight Ounce Coffee on Instagram (@eightouncecoffeeco).
To redeem the beverage, the Participant(s) must present the unique voucher code at the cashier of any Eight Ounce Coffee outlet.
To retrieve the code, Participant(s) must navigate to the voucher detail page and tap on the ‘Use voucher now’ button. A ‘Slide to confirm’ slider will then appear to confirm the voucher usage.
Participant(s) should only swipe ‘Slide to confirm’ at the cashier when ready to redeem their beverage. Redemptions cannot be reversed once confirmed. Upon swiping, the voucher will be marked as used immediately and cannot be reused. Any accidental swipes cannot be undone.
Participant(s) will no longer be able to redeem another cup using the same code or participate again in the campaign under Clause 3.4 once this step has been completed.
Baristas and staff at Eight Ounce Coffee reserve the right to decline the redemption if the code has already been used, is invalid, or if the outlet’s daily voucher quota has been exhausted.
3.6 Redemption methods:
QR Code Path: Participant(s) who scan the campaign QR code at any Eight Ounce Coffee outlet will be directed to download Lumi News. After registering, they must manually enter NEWSNBREWS under the ‘Rewards’ page to unlock their unique voucher code.
Non-QR Path: Participant(s) who discover the campaign via other means must also manually enter NEWSNBREWS under the ‘Rewards’ page in the Lumi News app to unlock the voucher after registration.
To redeem the voucher, Participant(s) must present the unique voucher code to the cashier at a supported Eight Ounce Coffee outlet. The cashier will verify and key in the code. Once the code is accepted, Participant(s) may proceed to purchase one beverage at a subsidised rate (RM1 for black coffee/hot tea or RM3 for white coffee). Each voucher code is valid for a one-time use only and cannot be reused.
3.7 The voucher entitles the Participant(s) to:
RM1 for one (1) black coffee (hot/iced) or a choice of hot tea, or
RM3 for one (1) white coffee (hot/iced).
Redemption must be made at the cashier by presenting the voucher code within the Lumi News app. Any add-ons, customisations, or upsizes will incur additional charges, payable by the Participant(s).

3.8 Each outlet is subjected to a maximum redemption limit of 500 vouchers per week per outlet, subject to ‘First come, first served’ (FCFS) basis, under the discretion of Eight Ounce Coffee.
Example Scenario
Bob is not a Lumi News user. On 21 July 2025, he downloads the app, registers an account, follows @eightouncecoffeeco on Instagram, and enters the voucher code NEWSNBREWS in the Rewards page. If eligible, he receives a unique voucher code, which he can redeem at any Eight Ounce Coffee outlet as long as the daily quota hasn’t been exhausted.
If the outlet has already reached its daily limit of redemptions, Bob will not be able to use the voucher that day. However, he may return to the same or another supported outlet on a different day—any time within the Campaign Period (21 July to 21 September 2025, or until 2,000 cups have been redeemed, whichever comes first) to attempt redemption again, subject to the outlet’s daily quota.
4.0 General Terms
Vouchers are non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
4.1 Lumi News and Eight Ounce Coffee reserve the right to amend the Campaign duration and Terms & Conditions without prior notice.
4.2 All decisions made by the Organiser are final and binding.
4.3 By participating, participant(s) agree to these Terms & Conditions and consent to the processing of their data in accordance with Lumi News’ Privacy Policy.
4.4 Lumi News is not responsible for the customer service, product quality, or overall experience provided by Eight Ounce Coffee. Lumi News is also not liable for any dissatisfaction, quality control issues, or adverse side effects that may arise from the consumption of beverages served by Eight Ounce Coffee.
5.0 Publications of Comments & Opinions
No comments or opinions whose content is considered inappropriate, offensive, insulting or discriminatory, or that could violate the rights of third parties, will be allowed. Nor will comments be permitted against any individual that are an infringement of personal honour, personal and family privacy, or personal image rights. We will not be responsible for any damages caused by comments made by Campaign Participant(s), or that may at any time offend the sensitivities of other Participant(s). Any attempt to hinder the proper development of the Contest, either by human intervention or by means of an automaton, will lead to the immediate disqualification of the Participant(s), annulling their candidacy.
6.0 Discharge of Liability
By participating in the campaign, Participant(s) agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Lumi News, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and campaign agencies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all liability, loss, damage, or injury arising out of or related to participation in the campaign or the acceptance, use, misuse, or possession of any prize received through the campaign. Lumi News makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the prize or the campaign. Lumi News shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in any way connected with the campaign, whether based on contract, tort, strict liability, or any other theory of liability, even if Lumi News has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Lumi News also reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the campaign in any way, without notice, in the event of any cause beyond its control. Lumi News is not responsible for any late, incomplete, or misdirected entries, or for any error, omission, interrupt ion, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction, or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries. Lumi News is not responsible for any injury or damage to Participant(s)' or any other person's computer/mobile device related to or resulting from participating in the campaign or downloading materials from or use of the Lumi News app. Lumi News is not responsible for any technical or other problems that may arise in connection with the campaign, including but not limited to problems with the internet or with any telecommunications network.
7.0 Data protection & publicity
The company responsible for processing your data is Lumi Global Sdn Bhd located in SO 7-1, Menara 1, Strata Office, No.3, Jalan Bangsar, KL Eco City, 59200 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The data provided in the contest will be treated and stored with the utmost respect and data security.
By participating in the campaign, Participant(s) agree to allow Lumi News to process their personal data for the purposes of administering the campaign, including contacting Participant(s) and verifying their eligibility. Participant(s) also agree to allow Lumi News to use their name, likeness, photograph, and any statements they make about the campaign in any promotional or advertising materials related to the campaign, without compensation or notice. However, Lumi News will only process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including obtaining any necessary consents and providing Participant(s) with any required notices or rights. Participant(s) may have the right to request access to, rectification, or erasure of their personal data or to restrict or object to its processing. Any personal information collected from Participant(s) in the campaign will be used in accordance with Lumi News's privacy policy.
8.0 Amendments
We reserve the right to modify or extend these promotional bases, to the extent that it does not harm or impair the rights of the Participant(s) in the Campaign.
