Top Gear is to be officially “rested” by the BBC after Freddie Flintoff’s crash whilst filming the show last year.

They added that the show will not return for the foreseeable future.

“We know resting the show will be disappointing news for fans, but it is the right thing to do.” the BBC said in a statement.

Filming on the flagship show has been halted since Flintoff was injured at a test track in Surrey last December.

Flintoff was taken to hospital after the crash and the BBC quickly announced a pause on production while they reviewed the show’s health and safety.
