Ketua Polis Negara, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail berkata, jenayah pengeksploitasian kanak-kanak kini dilihat semakin serius, kompleks, dan merentas sempadan. Katanya operasi ini dilaksanakan dalam tempoh yang dipersetujui bersama oleh semua negara iaitu bermula pada 23 Mac hingga 17 April lalu. Pelaksanaan serentak di Malaysia dari 6 hingga 8 April lalu mensasarkan 101 individu di seluruh 14 kontinjen negara, Beliau berkata demikian pada sidang media di Bukit Aman, di Kuala Lumpur pada Khamis. Menurutnya, pihak berkuasa menahan 69 individu berusia antara 15 hingga 66 tahun, termasuk penjawat awam. Katanya polis turut merampas 126 barang kes, termasuk telefon pintar dan storan digital. Hasil pemeriksaan mengenal pasti 498,690 fail digital, dengan 204,934 daripadanya adalah bahan penderaan seksual kanak-kanak (CSAM). Menurutnya aktiviti ini bukan lagi bersifat individu semata-mata, sebaliknya terarah kepada operasi tersusun yang bermotifkan keuntungan.
