LETTERS: Residents of a neighbourhood in Kuala Lumpur are looking forward to the day when a massive development is completed.

They are hoping that their area will revert to its quiet and undisturbed state once there is nothing left to develop. The residents are lamenting because they have had to endure nightmarish traffic congestion for the past few years.

The area is a choice location in the city. One can be sure that developers are perpetually on the lookout for empty spaces.

With such developers around, I dare say that the peace and tranquility have become a thing of the past. In this context, residents need to understand the key word "externality".
