Women’s rights group reminds Anwar of manifesto promises

PETALING JAYA: A coalition of 14 women’s rights organisations has called on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to fulfill Pakatan Harapan’s election promise of granting citizenship to children born overseas to Malaysian mothers.

The Joint Action Group for Gender Equality also wants Anwar, who is PH chairman, to gazette the Anti-Sexual Harassment Law passed in July, as promised.

“The new government must comply with international obligations to gender equality and non-discrimination and usher in an era of protection and empowerment for all women and children in Malaysia,” the group said.
