Govt reiterates commitment on political funding bill

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has reiterated its commitment to ensure the political funding bill will be realised.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar expects the bill's first reading to take place in early this November, with its second reading to take place later in the month.

He said in 2015, an initiative to introduce a new law to regulate political funds was attempted by the government through the establishment of the National Consultative Committee on Political Funding (JKNMPP), but it did not materialise.
