Ex-cop jailed two years, fined RM10,000 for accidentally killing colleague

SIBU: A former policeman was sentenced to two years in jail and fined RM10,000 by the High Court here today for negligence leading to the death of his colleague two years ago.

Judge Datuk Christopher Chin Soo Yin sentenced Mohamad Nur Alif Mazlan, 27, after finding him guilty according to Section 304A of the Penal Code.

He also ordered the accused to begin his sentence from the date he was arrested, on May 6, 2021.

Seventeen witnesses were called throughout the trial of the case. The accused was represented by lawyer Ranbir Singh while prosecution was carried out by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mark Kenneth Netto.
